Nancy MacFarlane is a highly respected Registered Veterinary Technician with a remarkable career spanning over 40 years, dedicated to enhancing the lives of animals. Her journey in veterinary medicine began with a childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian and working with animals, a passion ignited further by her first job as an animal care attendant in a veterinary clinic while still in high school. This early experience solidified her path as a Veterinary Technician.
Nancy is a lifelong learner, having pursued her initial veterinary technology studies at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, in 1980. She has continued to expand her expertise, notably earning certifications in Veterinary Social Work – Veterinary Human Support from the University of Tennessee in 2020 and a Pet Loss and Bereavement Specialist Certification from Pet Loss Partners in 2023. Her personal life has also been enriched by the companionship of many beloved pets, including her cherished Jack Russell Terriers, a Siamese cat, and her current Oriental Shorthairs.
These extensive professional and personal experiences, particularly her deep understanding of the human-animal bond and the profound impact of pet loss, have culminated in the writing of her book. Nancy’s aim is to provide a vital resource for pet owners facing the challenging emotional landscape of end-of-life decisions, grief, and loss. Through her work, she hopes readers find the answers and comfort they seek, reminding them that they are not alone in their journey.
